Everyone’s Duty is to Protect Government Land in Telangana: Tummala

Khammam: Agriculture minister Tummala nageswara Rao on Tuesday directed officials to ensure government land was not encroached upon, and protected from land sharks.

Nageswara Rao directed officials to submit a report to him on the status of government land in the district and said everyone had a responsibility to protect it. Officials should identify government land holdings and fence them.

He said there is a requirement of land for distribution of houses to the poor and for setting up of industries. He directed officials to check illegal mining operations at Raghunathapalem in the district. Officials of mining and police departments should work in coordination to crack down on illegal mining. He asked officials to demolish constructions which have come up encroaching on roads. He instructed officials to submit a report on NSP quarters land also.

Stating that education has been accorded top priority by the state government in its policies, he underlined the need to provide facilities in government-run schools. He asked officials to conduct field visits and examine the status of double bedroom houses.

Khammam district collector Muzammil Khan, additional collector D. Madhusudan Naik, district revenue officer M. Rajeshwari and others attended the meeting.
