Excise cops book 1,813 cases, held 1,764 in spl drive

Hyderabad: In a statewide crackdown on country-made liquor (natusaara), illicit distillation and adulterated food ingredients, excise officials registered 1,813 cases, arrested 1,764 accused and seized 8,913 liters of natusaara over the past month.

Additionally, officials confiscated 22.64 kilograms of black jaggery, 2.67 kg of adulterated garlic paste and 298 vehicles transporting the contraband.

“We have bonded over 1,540 persons, booked 82 for breaches and bound down 10 others, seizing material worth `14.99 lakh across the state,” V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, excise and enforcement director, told Deccan Chronicle.

To curb NDPS drugs, natusaara and adulterated food items, station heads across 29 districts have been directed to intensify action. “We have completely destroyed manufacturing units of natusaara in Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda and Mancherial districts,” Reddy stated.

“Our station in-charges and staff across districts have done a commendable job in identifying 475 hotspots and 754 habitual offenders involved in illicit distillation crimes across 23 districts. Very soon, we will launch a major crackdown to neutralise illegal natusaara, NDPS drugs and other unlawful activities in line with the directive of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy,” Kamalasan Reddy added.


Telangana excise officials have identified a total of 475 hotspots and 754 offenders across multiple districts.

  • Mancherial district: 98 hotspots, 41 offenders
  • Nirmal district: 46 hotspots, 36 offenders
  • Asifabad district: 8 hotspots, 34 offenders
  • Peddapalli district: 14 hotspots, 6 offenders
  • Wanaparthy district: 20 hotspots, 97 offenders
  • Nagarkurnool district:
    • Kollapur police station: 12 hotspots, 24 offenders
    • Achampet police station: 12 hotspots, 33 offenders
    • Telkapally police station: 11 hotspots, 32 offenders
    • Kalwakurthy police station: 21 hotspots, 47 offenders
  • Warangal Rural district:
    • Parkal police station: 6 hotspots, 22 offenders
    • Narsampet police station: 48 hotspots, 33 offenders
    • Wardhannapet police station: 33 hotspots, 16 offenders
  • Mahabubabad district:
    • 46 hotspots, 28 offenders
    • Thorrur police station: 18 hotspots, 22 offenders
    • Gudur police station: 8 hotspots, 8 offenders
  • Bhupalpally district:
    • 15 hotspots, 31 offenders
    • Mulugu police station: 9 hotspots, 24 offenders
    • Kataram police station: 14 hotspots, 23 offenders
  • Nalgonda district:
    • Devarakonda police station: 40 hotspots, 91 offenders
  • Suryapet district:
    • Huzurnagar police station: 25 hotspots, 65 offenders
  • Kothagudem-Bhadrachalam district:
    • 17 hotspots, 42 offenders

In total, authorities have pinpointed 475 hotspots and 754 offenders across these regions.
