Hyderabad: A 59-year-old victim of quackery may lose her hand after being treated by a fake doctor. According to Raju, his mother Uppalamma was treated by a fake doctor named Sampath, who assumed the role of a rural medical practitioner in Warangal.
When Uppalamma complained of vomiting, he administered intra-arterial injections instead of intravenous injections, which led to blackish discolouration on arm. The patient then went to NIMS, but the doctors suggested amputation.
She was subsequently admitted to the general surgery department at the MGM Hospital in Warangal. The doctors at MGM Hospital have registered a medico-legal case and begun treatment. Sources said the doctors had recommended amputation.
