Farmers Call for Chalo Armoor March Today

Nizambad: A joint action committee (JAC) of farmers on Friday called for a ‘Chalo Armoor’ march on August 24 demanding crop loan waiver for all farmers regardless of conditions.

The JAC has called for two members from each household to attend the protest at Mamidipally cross roads in Armoor.

Farmers of Armoor, Balkonda and Nizamabad rural Assembly constituencies formed a JAC to protest against the crop loan waiver scheme. The JAC conducted a preparatory meeting last week and called for ‘Chalo Armoor’ on August 24.

Opposition BRS, BJP, Left parties and other organisations have lent their support to the programme. Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri extended his solidarity with the farmers. BRS leaders and a few farmers’ associations are actively working to make the programme successful.

Armoor farmers are known for their agitation on red jowar and turmeric board issues. Red jowar farmers’ agitation had led to police firing in Armoor in united Andhra Pradesh.

In view of this, police are taking precautions to avoid any untoward incident during the farmers’ protests.

Meanwhile, Nizamabad police commissioner Kalmeshwar Shinganevar said the authorities have promulgated orders banning the march under section 163 of BNSS from August 23 evening to August 25 morning under Armoor division.

Unlawful gathering of farmers and others would affect the peace, law and order, he said. Prior permission is required for any gatherings, he said, adding violation of orders will be liable for action.
