Farmers Demand Crop Loan Waiver for All, Stage Stir
Nizamabad: Farmers staged protests on Thursday in front of tahsildar offices in Nizamabad Rural, Armoor, and Balkonda Assembly constituencies, demanding a Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver for all farmers.
Earlier, under the banner of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), farmers had staged a rasta roko on NH 44 in Armoor, giving the state government a deadline of September 16 to settle the crop loan waiver issue. Due to the Ganesh idol immersion, the farmers extended the deadline to September 18 and held protests at the tahsildar offices on Thursday.
JAC leaders demanded that the state government provide the Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver to all farmers without any restrictions. They said that farmers require crop loans based on the needs of agricultural operations and that the government should extend the Rs 2 lakh waiver to everyone.
They further stated that agriculture department officials denied the loan waiver to numerous farmers whose crop loans exceeded Rs 2 lakh.
