Farmers should avoid taking loans for borewells: Kodanda Reddy

Kodanda Reddy advised farmers not to gamble with summer crops

Hyderabad: Kodanda Reddy, Chairman of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission, urged farmers to avoid drilling borewells by taking loans, as groundwater levels are steadily depleting across the state.

“Please do not risk drilling borewells with borrowed money. Cultivate crops only where water is available,” he advised. He also requested political parties and opposition leaders to refrain from making statements that could create mental stress for farmers.

“Droughts, floods, and other natural calamities are beyond our control. On behalf of the Commission, I appeal to farmers not to take unnecessary risks. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is doing everything possible for farmers, including loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa, and providing bonuses,” he said.

Kodanda Reddy advised farmers not to gamble with summer crops, which might fail due to water scarcity. “Avoid falling into debt by drilling borewells. Don’t waste your hard work—protect your life,” he urged, reminding them that farmers are the backbone of the nation and their lives are invaluable.
