Fawn rescued from stray dogs in Gudimalkapur

The Asifnagar police rescued a six-month-old fawn that was being chased and attacked by a pack of stray dogs on Thursday, prompting a swift rescue effort by local residents.

Hyderabad:The Asifnagar police rescued a six-month-old fawn that was being chased and attacked by a pack of stray dogs on Thursday, prompting a swift rescue effort by local residents. The injured fawn was later handed over to the Forest Department.

“We received a dial 100 from the residents of Mohammadia Masjid in Gudimalkapur at 9 am who stated that a fawn is being chased by stray dogs. Our staff rushed to the spot and with the help of locals rescued the baby deer safely by chasing away the strays,” SHO Asifnagar G Venkateshwarlu told Deccan Chronicle.

“Later we informed forest officials at Saifabad who collected the fawn and handed it over to the the zoo authorities,” Venkateshwarlu said adding that after going through the CCTV installed in the area we saw the fawn wandered into the locality and was attacked by the stray dogs.

“We managed to arrange for a cage drinking water and some food for the young deer till the Forest Department officials came and collected the young deer,” the SHO said.

“We have made entry into General Diary and are enquiring with the locals in that particular area. It is reported that over 12 persons have been detained for questioning and the Forest Department is also investigating the case,” Venkateshwarlu said.
