Filling station will transform lives of inmates: DGP, prisons

Inmates will have the opportunity to earn Rs 150 per day during their stay, and released prisoners can expect a monthly wage of Rs 16,500

Warangal: The opening of the 'My Nation Filling Station' at Mamnoor Central Jail represents a significant turning point in the rehabilitation of inmates, bringing new opportunities for both the local community and those in the prison system, said Director General of Prisons Soumya Mishra on Tuesday. The DGP, prisons, inaugurated a filling station on the premises of the central jail in Mamnoor of Warangal.

The inauguration was attended by key officials including Warangal Range DIG M. Sampath, Warangal district collector Satya Sharada, Warangal police commissioner Amber Kishor Jha and jail superintendent Purnachander.

The project is a result of collaboration between the government of Telangana and BPCL with both public and private sectors working together to bring about a meaningful change in the society.

Speaking on the occasion, Soumya Mishra highlighted the vital role the petrol station will play in transforming the lives of inmates. “This project is a reflection of our collective desire to provide inmates with opportunities for reintegration into society. It is not just about providing a service but about offering job stability and skills that will benefit them in their future," she stated.

She expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for his continuous support to such reformative initiatives, which she believes will lead to positive changes in justice and correctional systems. "The leadership of our state has demonstrated unwavering support for these projects, and I hope they will initiate more efforts aimed at the rehabilitation of inmates," she said.

Every inmate has the potential to rebuild their life, and through efforts like this, we are providing them the right opportunities to make a meaningful and lasting change.
