Food Safety Inspections at Pista House Mahabubnagar

Hyderabad: The food safety commissioner's task force teams made the Staff at the Pista House unit at Yenugonda in Mahbubnagar was made to discard 70 kg of stale non-vegetarian food items, during a check by the food safety commissioner's task force teams on Sunday.

The task force noted basic hygiene violations such as open dustbins in the food preparation area, blocked drains and unclean refrigerators. The outlet also had improper storage of raw and cooked items. The FBO also did not display the FSSAI license in the premises.

Sri Venkateshwara Bhavan was found using adulterated tea powder, besided being non compliant with hygiene regulations. The medical records of food handlers was not shown to the inspectors. Pest control and water analysis reports were also not available with the FBO.

The task force teams also inspected three outlets in Nizamabad town. At Hotel Vamshi International, basic violations were found with the storage of raw and cooked food materials. Deep-fried items were kept along with the raw materials. Fungal-infested cashew nuts and grapes were found and discarded. Here also, the inspectors found synthetic food colours being used. Walls and floors were improperly sealed and there was water stagnation in the kitchen.

At the Aroma Family Kitchen, chicken was kept unwrapped in the refrigerator which could lead to cross-contamination. Vegetables being used at Hotel Kapila were found to be infested with fungus. The kitchen was in unhygienic condition and pest infestation was seen in almonds, suji and rajma. Floors and walls were untidy. Other issues were found with the storage of food.
