Food safety officials seize 60,050 kgs coconut powder in Begum Bazaar

The officials along with the SOT police team, conducted surprise inspections in Akash Trading Company in Begum Bazaar following information that it was involved in repacking of coconut powder with different brands, which is suspected to be in violation of provisions of Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act-2006.

Officials said that imported desiccated coconut powder was found being mixed with loose undesiccated coconut powder. As many as 60,050 kg of coconut powder worth Rs.92.47 lakh was seized and added that action would be initiated as per the provisions of FSS Act-2006.
