Formula E Race case: KTR to appear before ED on Jan. 16 at 10.30 am
Hyderabad: BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) will appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at Basheerbagh here on Thursday in connection with the Formula E Race case.
This would be second time for KTR to appear before another investigating agency in the case. The ACB earlier grilled him for over seven hours and enquired about Formula E Race details.
He will start from his residence at Nandinagar in Banjara Hills at 10 am and reach the ED office in Basheerbagh to appear before officials at 10.30 am tomorrow. In response to a notice issued to him, KTR will appear before the ED, which has already registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) based on FIR issued by Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) a few weeks ago.
The ACB booked a case against KTR under provisions of Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act along with Section 409 (Criminal breach of trust) read with Section 120B (Conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The ACB declared KTR as A1, while senior IAS officer and Special Chief Secretary to government (Revenue Disaster Management) Arvind Kumar as A2 and former Chief Engineer of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) BLN Reddy as A3.
In December 2024, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari wrote to the ACB Director-General asking him to initiate a probe against KTR in connection with alleged irregularities amounting to Rs.55 crore in the case.
The development follows the State Cabinet meeting directing the Chief Secretary to write a letter to ACB Director General immediately seeking investigation into the Formula E race.
The State government secured Governor Bishnu Dev Varma's nod on December 12 to prosecute KTR in the Formula E race scam. The State government sought the Governor’s approval on November 8 but he kept his decision pending for over a month finally giving his nod on December 12. The CS with her letter to ACB-DG enclosed the approval letter granted by the Governor while seeking investigation against KTR.
