GHMC educates students on waste management
HYDERABAD: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) floor leader Daripally Rajashekar Reddy conducted an awareness programme on waste-to-energy generation for students of Classes VIII and IX from Zilla Parishad High Schools in Lingojiguda and Saroornagar. The programme focused on teaching students how electricity can be generated from waste.
As part of the programme, nearly 200 students from government schools were taken to the Jawaharnagar dumping yard. There, officials and staff explained the process of segregating waste and generating electricity from it.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajashekar Reddy said the programme was organised following Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s instructions as part of the Praja Palana Vijayotsavam. He said students should learn about practical activities in society, such as waste-to-energy processes, alongside their regular studies. According to him, such knowledge can be useful for students as they grow.
He also mentioned that students had recently been taught about road construction, including the use of materials like cement, gravel and sand. He added that students learning about real-world processes from a young age would help them gain a broader understanding and build practical skills. The event was supported by Ramki in-charge Venu, Krishna Upendar, Sridhar Goud Palusam, Sridhar Goud Kandhi Kanti, Praveen Reddy, Shiva Goud, Naresh Mudiraj, Rohit, Narendar and teachers from the participating schools.
