GHMC Intensifies Flood Mitigation With Nala Cleaning, Repairs
Hyderabad: The GHMC has intensified its efforts to address flood-prone areas across the city. Officials have been directed to clear floating debris from stormwater drains and culverts to prevent water stagnation during rains, especially in low-lying areas.
In a teleconference with additional and zonal commissioners, it was emphasised that photographic evidence of nala cleaning activities should be submitted. Health officials have been instructed to launch anti-larval operations and fogging in flood-affected colonies to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases. The commissioner also urged immediate road repairs, particularly where potholes pose significant hazards, and recommended the installation of warning signs or barricades to prevent accidents.
During an inspection of flood-affected areas in Kukatpally zone, GHMC commissioner Amrapali Kata visited sits around Maisamma Cheruvu, IDL Cheruvu, and Safdar Nagar and directed the provision of safe drinking water to affected residents and ensured that adequate health camps are set up. Preparations for Ganesh immersion at IDL and Maisamma Cheruvu were also reviewed, with a focus on ensuring no disruptions to public convenience.
