Hyderabad: The GHMC said it would deploy 600 teams from September to complete the comprehensive integrated geographic information system (GIS) survey within six months.

Each team will be tasked with field-level surveys, collection of copies of latest property tax receipts, water and electricity bills, trade licence numbers (for commercial properties), among others.

“The data will be uploaded with RailTel, a public sector enterprise,” said GHMC commissioner Amrapali Kata.

Urging the people to cooperate, she said the GHMC aimed to enhance urban planning and resource management. She rejected rumours that the survey was being done to increase property tax.

The GHMC has 19.38 lakh assessments, including 2.78 in the commercial category. A unique identification number, also known as a digital address, will be generated for each property.

According to the corporation, this number will help pinpoint properties for protection, rescue operations and municipal services, including garbage collection.

According to GHMC records, the drone survey was completed in 158 square km and 1,14,020 plots have been digitised so far.

The survey was done in Hydernagar, Miyapur, Chandanagar, KPHB Colony, Uppal and Hayathnagar.
