Hyderabad:In an attempt to curb irregularities, the GHMC on Friday decided to digitise all the details of the properties owned by the corporation’s estate wing, and assign each one an unique ID number.
The GHMC decided that the properties should be leased out as per the market rate.
Due to the nexus between tenants, officials and politicians, several lease agreements have not been renewed for years, denting the corporation’s coffers. With sub lease of GHMC properties a common practice, the officials have been asked to inquire at the field level and submit a report.
GHMC commissioner K. Ilambarithi directed officials to digitalise all details including duration of the lease and make sure that the records of GHMC assets were in the public domain.
“An online platform will be made available for collection of lease amount,” said a GHMC official. In addition to this, the officials were instructed to visit GHMC community halls and submit a report.
