Gita jayanthi celebrated at Banjara Hills Hare Krishna Golden Temple
Hyderabad: Gita Jayanthi was celebrated with reverence and devotion at Hare Krishna Golden Temple in Banjara Hills on Wednesday to mark the occasion of Lord Krishna delivering the supreme knowledge of Bhagavad Gita to mankind through his beloved devotee Arjuna.
To mark the occasion, Gita Jayanthi is celebrated world over by all followers and admirers of Bhagavad Gita. The celebrations began with Sampoorna Gita parayanam from 9 am to 5 pm in which many devotees did the recitation of a total 700 Sanskrit slokas of Bhagavad Gita from morning.
From 6.30 pm to 8 pm, there was a special Gita recitation along with an explanation of the most important 108 slokas of Bhagavad Gita. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji, President of Hare Krishna Movement, Hyderabad said, “Today being the very day when Lord Krishna delivered the knowledge of Gita to his beloved devotee Arjuna more than 5,000 years ago and the same is commemorated as Gita Jayanti.”
“We celebrated this auspicious day by chanting all the 700 slokas from 18 chapters of the Gita. Bhagavad Gita is the global solution for all the problems of our lives. The message of the Gita is not limited to a particular religion, caste or country. It is universal and the principles are applicable to all the times. Any person can achieve perfection in life by reading and practicing the eternal message of Bhagavad-Gita.”
The celebrations concluded by a grand maha arati to Sri Radha Govinda and Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, in the evening. Sumptuous prasadam was distributed throughout the day for all. Many devotees and the general public participated in the celebrations and took the blessings of Sri Radha Govinda. Elaborate arrangements for prasadam distribution and visitors’ conveniences were provided at the temple.
