Hyderabad: The Prohibition and Excise department on Saturday seized 90 liquor bottles brought from Goa for consuming during New Year celebrations to be organized on December 31 night.
The bottles were seized from a group of youth, who purchased the liquor bottles during their visit to Goa and bringing them to city by train. Following a tip-off, the excise officials searched the train at Vikarabad and seized the bottles worth over Rs.1 lakh.
On the eve of New Year celebrations, the department stepped up surveillance across the strategic locations to keep a tab on bringing non-duty paid liquor and liquor from other States especially from Goa in addition to flow of drugs.
