Hyderabad: Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday extended his wishes and greetings to the Muslim community. “Wishing all the Muslims of Telangana a blessed Bakrid (Eid-Ul-Adha) with happiness, peace and good health! The Bakrid festival symbolises the spirit of sacrifice and supreme devotion.
“It holds a special place in the Islamic faith, representing the values of sharing, charity, reverence, and assisting the needy. I hope that the celebration of this festival further strengthens the spirit of brotherhood, service, and sacrifice. By celebrating the ‘Bakrid’ festival in true spirit, I am sure that peace, harmony, cooperation, compassion, and unity prevail in society,” the Governor said
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy also extended greetings to the Muslim community on the occasion of Bakrid, which is celebrated on Monday.
Calling it the festival of sacrifice, which commemorates Ibrahim's readiness to sacrifice his son as a profound act of submission and devotion towards almighty God, Revanth Reddy said Bakrid reflects the unwavering devotion and sacrifice of the prophets.
“The festival also gives a great message of not to be afraid of the problems which are being faced in life and to lead a righteous life by reposing faith in God to humanity,” he said, adding that Bakrid is also a festival that spreads the message of charity.
Telangana Legislative Council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy also congratulated Muslims and said that the Bakrid signals mankind to have faith in God and lead a righteous life.
