Hyderabad: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Thursday flagged off four vehicles carrying winter relief materials for tribal villages adopted by him.
The initiative is part of the year-long celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, observed as the Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas.The event was jointly organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Abhay Foundation and Smile Foundation to support tribal communities duringwinter.
The Governor received the donations at Raj Bhavan and handed them over to Indian Red Cross Society representatives for their distribution among tribals.Commending the donors, the Governor described their generosity as inspiring encouraging others to contribute to the welfare of those in need. The initiative shows the importance of serving the marginalised communities promoting social responsibility, he added.
