Governor stresses on India’s journey post independence

Hyderabad: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma led the 78th Independence Day celebrations, hoisted the National Flag at the historic Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan. In his address, the Governor reflected on India’s journey since independence and emphasised the significance of unity and rapid development for both the country and Telangana state.

He also laid a wreath at the Veerula Sainik Smarak at the Army Parade Ground in Secunderabad, honouring the martyrs.
At the GHMC, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi hoisted the National Flag and highlighted the state government’s efforts to meet public aspirations and detailed various development initiatives. At the Secunderabad Cantonment Board. CEO Madhukar Naik started the celebrations with a flag-hoisting ceremony.
At Nehru Zoological Park, Dr Sunil S. Hiremath, director, hoisted the Flag and awarded certificates of appreciation to employees. He announced several new initiatives, including the launch of e-bikes for internal zoo operations.
The SBI’s local head office celebrated with a flag-hoisting ceremony led by CGM Rajesh Kumar who spoke about the bank’s crucial role in the nation’s economic progress. At the LIC, zonal manager Puneet Kumar Singal hoisted the Flag.
Hyderabad Metro Rail joined the celebrations with managing director N.V.S. Reddy hoisting the Tricolour. At Dak Sadan, where Chief Postmaster General Dr. P.V.S. Reddy led the festivities, which included tree-planting activities.
Osmania University saw a grand ceremony at the Arts College where in-charge Vice Chancellor M. Dana Kishore led the event. He highlighted the university’s significant role in the Quit India Movement.
At the University of Hyderabad (UoH), Vice Chancellor Prof. B J Rao hoisted the National Flag and congratulated the university community for their contributions to the institution's standing as one of India’s premier universities.
The National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) in Gachibowli celebrated with director Ila Tripathi hoisting the Flag. Nasr School marked the day with a march past by NCC cadets and cultural performances. Principal Mir Mohiuddin Mohammed urged students to embrace their responsibilities as citizens of a free nation.
