Govt committed to all-round development of districts: Shabbir

ADILABAD: Government adviser Mohd Ali Shabbir on Thursday said the government was committed to ensuring all-around development and welfare of people in the state in general and Adilabad district in particular.

Addressing a gathering after hoisting the Tricolour at the Police Parade Ground here, he said the poor were now getting medical cover up to Rs 10 lakh under the Rajiv Aarogyasri. The Congress government started working for the welfare of people in 48 hours after coming to power.

He recalled that the state government conducted Indiramma gram sabha and received petitions on various issues and added that the state government allocated Rs 134 crore in the state budget for the land acquisition under the lower Penganga project and Korata-Chanaka.

In Mancherial, government adviser Harakara Venugopal said Rs 100 crore was allocated in the budget for the construction of Karakattalu on the Rallavagu to prevent inundation of low-lying areas in Mancherial town.

He said Rs 110 crore bank loans have been given to 1,211 SHGs till August 9 out of the targeted Rs 430 crore to be disbursed among 7,982 SHGs in Mancherial district. Government medical college building construction is going on with an estimated cost of Rs 205 crore.

In Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, Dr Banda Prakash, deputy chairman of Telangana Legislative Council, said the state government has sanctioned five check dams to irrigate 531 acres in the district and among them, three are under construction at an estimated cost of Rs 9.79 crore in Asifabad constituency.

He said efforts are being made to give drinking water to all households and schools and Anganwadis under Mission Bhagiratha.

In Nirmal, Rajaiah Sircilla, chairman of the Telangana Finance Commission, said a government medical college was set up with 100 seats in Nirmal and this will help the students coming from poor families to become doctors. He said development works worth Rs 23.13 crore are going on in Nirmal town.
