Govt. encouraging intellectual capabilities of youth in Telangana: Bhatti

Hyderabad: The Congress Government has launched a programme to extend financial incentives to candidates, who cleared UPSC prelims and are preparing for the main examination.

Extending good wishes to the candidates preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) main examination from Telangana, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Monday wished they would be successful in the mains and extend their services to the State and the country.

“The government’s endeavour is to address some of their financial constraints and hence launched this programme. The State government is determined to encourage intellectual capabilities of youth on a big scale and take up programmes that would help the State and the nation,” he explained.

The State Cabinet led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is starting a new course that was never thought about those who ruled the State previously. One of the programmes is to help and encourage candidates preparing for UPSC mains to qualify in the exam.

For the first time in the history of the State, the Congress government is extending Rs.1lakh financial assistance to candidates appearing for mains, Bhatti said. He specially congratulated the Energy department and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) for the programme.

This programme would not only help in promoting education but also help the State in future. Bhatti wished the candidates that they should clear the mains and then the Interview and get selected for the civil services. “Though you may in future extend your services either in this State or any other State in the country, I believe you will have special thought for Telangana”, he said.

The State government is giving special focus on many aspects related to the education sector for the first time in the history of the State. Young India Integrated Residential Schools is one such new initiative of the Indiramma government in the State and “we are going ahead with the required measures”.

As part of that initiative, the State government will be spending Rs 5,000 crore in the first year itself for Young India Integrated Schools. The previous government had merely allocated Rs.3 crore for provision of basic facilities in the residential schools. The government had increased the amount from Rs.3 crore to Rs.5,000 crore.

These allocations themselves made it evident the State government’s priorities, he said. The government bestowed its special attention from Anganwadis, higher education to universities. The syllabus taught in the universities has no relation to the requirements of industries.

In the wake of globalisation, the government would set up Skill University for the first time in the State and formulate syllabus to meet the requirements of the industries. The industry experts will be made part of Skill University and eminent industrialist Anand Mahindra would be made Chairman of the Skill University.

The syllabus finalised by the industry experts would be taught to the students to develop their technical skills. About 63 ITI colleges are on the verge of closure and to give them a fresh lease of life they are being upgraded as advanced skill centres.

Prominent institutions in the country like Tata Consultancy and other important industries were being involved as partners in the upgrading of ITIs as skill centres. The People’s government is going ahead to encourage human resources on a big scale in the State and thereby pave the way for the development of the State and the country, he said.
