Govt Funds Soon for Completion of Canals: Uttam

Bhongir:Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday alleged that the BRS government had unscientifically spent Rs 1.8 lakh crore in the name of irrigation projects.

Speaking at a review meeting at Bhongir, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress government took up several measures to complete irrigation projects and canals.

He said all irrigation projects and lift irrigation schemes in erstwhile Nalgonda district will be completed and irrigation facility provided to farmers. Stating that Rs 269 crore was required for the Buniyadigani canal, Rs 86 crore for the Pillaipalli canal and Rs 133 crore for Dharmareddy canal, he said the state government would soon sanction funds for completion of work on these canals.

He asked MLAs to pursue people for land acquisition for irrigation projects. He said Bhongir irrigation facility will be increased to one lakh acres. The state government accorded high priority on Devadula project and is working with a target to provide irrigation facility within two years.

Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the Congress government was committed to completing its all poll promises including Six Guarantees.

Reminding that 18.5 lakh Indiramma houses had been constructed in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, he said the Congress government would start work on the Indiramma houses in 45 days. Stating that changes would be brought to Dharani, he said the land revenue Act of Telangana would stand as a role model.
