Govt to Enhance Facilities at Gurukul Schools in Telangana: Dy CM
Karimnagar: The state government is committed to improving infrastructure and basic facilities at every social welfare and gurukul residential school and colleges in the state, deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said, adding schools will be kept neat and clean under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
The deputy chief minister said this while visiting Peddapur Gurukul Residential School and Junior College here in Metpally mandal of Jagtial district on Tuesday. He was accompanied by BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar and government chief whips Aadi Srinivas and Adluri Laxman Kumar.
The Dy. CM said anti-snake venom, anti-rabies injections and para-medical personnel will be made available at every school. MLAs and collectors must not only visit at least once every school in their jurisdictions in a month, they must also have meals with students.
Two students had died and four were hospitalized due to snakebite in Paddapur Gurukul Residential School and Junior College within two weeks.
After the first incident, district collector B.Satya Prasad had suspended college principal K.Vidyasagar, but after one week, another student died and two were hospitalised due to snakebite.
The BRS government had allocated funds for the construction of a permanent building for the gurukul school, but could not release the funds. The Congress government is ready to sanction funds for completing the pending works and will have the compound wall of the school constructed, the Dy. CM said.
He assured the bereaved families that the government would extend all help to them, including government jobs. He ordered officials to grow medicinal and fruit plants on the premises of all gurukul residential schools and colleges across the state.
