Hyderabad: To predict a pest attack in farming and weather updates in nearby areas, a Hyderabad-based company Growero Technologies has announced an AI-based pest forecast platform ‘Grow iX’. The web-based and mobile application will forecast a real time crop-specific pest attack and weather for the next 15-20 days.
Growero said that the application uses artificial intelligence (AI), historical weather data and remote sensing technology to give precise forecasts on pests or disease. The application will help the farmers to make the right decision in usage of agro chemicals, which will save costs and reduce use of chemicals, the company said.
Growero Technologies managing director Devendra Dasari said that the company had acquired the technology from another company. He, however, did not disclose the company.
“The Grow iX technology will help the farmers in knowing the pest attacks. They can take precautions to protect the crop and can get the desired yields. With our 4,000 team, we educate the farmers to use the application across India,” said Devendra Dasari at an event on Thursday.
The company also introduced another product category ‘Eco Booster’ to reduce water requirement by 50 per cent in the farms. Under this category, it launched four products - Kratos, Esenta, Sunex and Duzor. The company developed the products by collaborating with agricultural scientists in the US, Netherlands and South Africa.
“The Eco Booster products can address abiotic stress felt by the crops. These products are going to address challenges of water usage in farming and aid in increasing the yield,” Dasari said.
