H.A.C.K. calls for cyber resilience
Hyderabad:Telangana is deeply committed to fortifying digital security with comprehensive policies and public initiatives. Events like the Hyderabad Annual Cybersecurity Knowledge (H.A.C.K.) 2.0 Summit are crucial in galvanising action and building a culture of cybersecurity, said IT minister D. Sridhar Babu while inaugurating the cybersecurity summit in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The summit brought together about 500 experts from government, industry, academia and law enforcement. The summit, which was hosted by the Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC), highlighted several pressing issues of cybersecurity and underscored the role of citizens in creating a resilient cyber landscape.
In his opening address, C.V. Anand, Hyderabad police commissioner and the chairman of HCSC, emphasised that “Cybersecurity is no longer just a policing duty, it’s a collective responsibility our digital world demands vigilance and proactive measures from every individual, every business and every government entity and together, we can make Hyderabad a beacon of cybersecurity awareness and action.”
Talking about the role of smartphones in cyber fraud, he said, “Mobile phones have become a part of our lives. We cannot leave them, hopefully time will come when we go back to old manual phones and we can sleep peacefully after talking to others with no cyber threats.” Talking about preventing cybercrime, Anand said detecting the fraudsters was easy but arrest from other states was a tough job as other state governments have been preventing the arrests for political reasons.
Collaborative efforts among law enforcement, private sector, and citizens are essential to secure our digital future.” C. Shekar Reddy, secretary general of HCSC, stressed HCSC’s role in fostering public and private partnerships for cybersecurity. In her presentation on the theme “Cyber Threat Landscape in Telangana”, Shikha Goel, director of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, discussed the cyber threat landscape across Telangana. Her presentation covered recent investigative successes and the pressing need for strengthened collaboration between citizens, industry and law enforcement agencies to combat the increasing cyber threats.
