Hyderabad: City residents intending to embark on the Haj pilgrimage next year got valuable lessons on religious practices at the holy places as well as on travel and accommodation procedures and processes. Many of the pilgrims will be flying for the first time in an aircraft.
“The training camp helped me understand how to wear the ‘Ihram’ properly and why it’s important. It was really useful to learn about the rituals and the right way to dress for the pilgrimage,” said Rasool Basha, who was at the event.
“This is my first time flying and the training session today explained everything about the flight, visa requirements and travel formalities. It really helped me understand what to expect and now I feel much more prepared for the trip,” said Nabeela Ahmed, for whom it will be the first flight in an aircraft.
They were speaking to Deccan Chronicle at the Telangana Haj Committee’s first training camp for Haj 2025 pilgrims. Committee chairman Syed Gulam Afzal Biabani inaugurated the session here on Sunday.
Religious scholars delivered the lectures on Manasik-e-Haj and Ziyarath-e-Madina Munawwarah. Haj Committee officials briefed the attendees on important logistic arrangements and journey preparation.
Haj Committee chairman Biabani advised pilgrims to maintain good health and to develop a habit of walking regularly to avoid difficulties during the pilgrimage. He mentioned that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had sanctioned a special grant of `10.5 crore for Haj Pilgrim camp.
“Today, we were given important advice on how to stay healthy and safe during the pilgrimage. From staying hydrated to dealing with the weather, the tips on how to take care of ourselves during the journey were very helpful. It’s good to know we’re well-prepared for the challenges ahead, said Zuber S.
Around 4,000 persons attended the session. Till date the Haj Committee received 9,011 applications out of which 6,519 have been selected, 1,631 placed on the approved waiting list. The remaining 853 applications are to be cleared by mid-January.
Tafseer Iqbal, special secretary to minority welfare, M.D Faheemuddin, vice-chairman of Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society, members of Haj committee and district secretaries participated in the programme.
