Hanamkonda: Teacher Punishes Student for Ayyappa Mala
Warangal: Ayyappa devotees protested outside Tejaswi High School located on Hunter Road of Hanamkonda after a physical education (PE) teacher allegedly forced Class 7 a student wearing an Ayyappa Mala to stand outside the classroom for a half-an-hour on Monday.
One of the school teachers insisted that the student should only come to school in the prescribed uniform and made a phone call to his parents. Upon learning about the incident, his father, who was also in Ayyappa Mala, along with Warangal Ayyappa temple pujari Ganapathi Sharma Ganeshan and other devotees, rushed to the school and staged a protest against the school management.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Ganeshan said the principal apologised and explained that the teacher was afraid that he would lose his job if he was not strict about the school uniform and did not have any intention to stop the boy because he was in Ayyappa mala. The principal assured that he would take steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the school management closed the school before the regular schedule. It also did not respond to phone calls made by mediapersons.
