Heart Patient Commits Suicide at Nizamabad Government General Hospital
Nizamabad: An inpatient at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Nizamabad died by suicide on Tuesday. The deceased is Matla Laxman, 50, of Nagaram in Nizamabad. He had been admitted to GGH for heart-related problems.
Laxman, a mason by profession, had suffered from health issues for the last six months. Due to the severity of his illness, he was admitted to GGH. Doctors examined him on Tuesday morning. Shakuntala, wife of Laxman, went outside to bring tea. Meanwhile, Laxman left his bed and went out.
Security staff, who noticed Laxman, tried to prevent him but in vain. Following the suicide, panic prevailed on GGH premises. Police and hospital staff immediately shifted the body for post-mortem.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, GGH superintendent Prathima Raj said Laxman might be suffering from depression. As an inpatient, he behaved normally with the hospital staff, she said. An investigation will reveal the reasons for suicide, she said.
