Fog delays arrival of five flights at airport, one flight diverted to Hyderabad

Fog caused delay in arrival of five passenger flights at Vijayawada International Airport from Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Visakhapatnam in the early hours of the day on Friday.

As the thick fog affected the visibility for landing/take off of the aircrafts, the arrival of five aircrafts from Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru have been delayed by half-an-hour to an hour at the Vijayawada airport. An aircraft coming from Hyderabad airport has been diverted back to its origin due to the fog and it has reached the Vijayawada airport after nearly an hour delay.

Vijayawada airport director M. Lakshmi Kanth Reddy said, “As there was thick fog in the morning, five flights were delayed at the airport and one was diverted back to its origin at Hyderabad. As the delay was only by a few minutes, there was no issue at the airport.”

Travellers at the Visakhapatnam airport faced significant delays due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. The delays disrupted several flights, inconveniencing passengers.

The following flights were delayed:

IX 2886 (Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad): Scheduled departure at 8:45 am, got delayed by 2 hours 45 minutes.

6E-307 (Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad): Scheduled departure at 8:40 am, got delayed by 1 hour 30 minutes.

6E 7254 (Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada): Scheduled departure at 8:55 am, delayed by 3 hours 5 minutes.

6E-845 (Visakhapatnam to Chennai): Scheduled departure at 8:25 am, delayed by 1 hour 50 minutes.
