Heavy rains disrupt normal life in Karimnagar
Karimnagar: Moderate to heavy rains in various parts of the district disturbed normal life of people, inundated low-lying areas and caused disruption in vehicular movement at several places on Sunday.
In Rajanna Sircilla district, the highest rainfall of 101.6 mm was recorded in Yellareddypet mandal followed by Chandurthi mandal with 89.4 mm of rainfall. In Peddapalli district, the highest rainfall of 101.3 mm was recorded in Sulthanabad mandal followed by 88.5 mm at Eligaid.
In Jagtial district, the highest rainfall of 94.2 mm was recorded in Bheemaram mandal followed by Medipalle mandal with around 91.1 mm. In Karimnagar district, the highest rainfall of 82.4 mm was recorded in Chigurumamidi mandal followed by 73.3 mm of rainfall at Choppadandi mandl.
Several low-lying colonies in Sircilla and Vemulawada towns were inundated in floodwater. Even though it rained heavily, devotees in large numbers visited the famous Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada and offered prayers as it was the last Sunday of the Shravana Masam.
With water overflowing from the Nimmanapalli project, the Mula wagu was flowing at dangerous level in Vemulawada.
Government chief whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas inspected the water flow in Mulu wagu at Bathukamma Teppa and ordered officials to shift people in flood-affected areas to rehabilitation centres.
After visiting the house of an aged woman that had collapsed in Thippapur village, the MLA assured her of allotting an Indiramma house.
Meanwhile, Rajanna Sircilla SP Akhil Mahajan ordered police officials to be available round the clock.
