Adilabad: Heavy rains pounded Chennur, Mancherial and Jaipur in Mancherial district and Komaram Bheem Asifabad district on Saturday. Rainwater entered into low-lying areas in Kagaznagar town. Many streams and rivulets were flowing high following rains. Breaches in roads and road connectivity affected villagers.
The irrigation department issued an alert to people in low-lying areas under Kadam and Yellampalli irrigation projects. Officials lifted five gates and discharged 34,374 cusecs of water downstream from Kadam.
Yellampalli projects received 14,302 cusecs of water by night. Swarnam project also received heavy inflows due to rains upstream.
Flood water inundated standing crops in many low-lying areas due to heavy rains in Adilabad, Nirmal, Komaram Bheem and Mancherial districts.
Scheduled programs of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka in Chennur assembly constituency were cancelled due to heavy rain.
