High-Level Vetting of City Ponds Ahead of Ganapati Immersion

Hyderabad:Authorities of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Thursday visited various ponds in the city to inspect arrangements for the immersion of idols during the upcoming Lord Gansha festival.

The team visited several areas in Serilingampally zone and inspected sanitation, condition of roads and ponds and made suggestions to respective officials.

The officials were advised to complete all arrangements to celebrate the festival from September 7 to 17 in a pleasant manner. Sanitation officials were advised to continuously monitor the situation and there should be no complaints on this count.

The authorities inspected Malkam cheruvu, Gopi cheruvu, Nalgandla cheruvu, Saki cheruvu, Gangaram cheruvu, Gautam baby pond, Kadiamkunta and Durgam cheruvu.

Mayor G. Vijayalakshmi said the baby pond at Saki pond should be prepared for idol immersion. Security guards should be posted to take care of ponds.

Meanwhile, dengue cases are rising in residential areas around Gangaram pond and officials of the entomology department were directed to take appropriate measures to control mosquitoes, and report should be sent to GHMC office from time to time.

Officials were told to remove silting as well as hyacinth in a week. The police were advised to arrange security at night. Officials were directed to improve roads and potholes filled immediately where idol rallies will be taken.

Officials were also advised to undertake DDM layer works on BT roads in immersion procession routes and told to provide basic facilities to devotees at immersion points.
