HMWS&SB Chief Inspects Sewerage Works in Mehdipatnam and Tolichowki

Hyderabad: HMWS&SB managing director Ashok Reddy inspected sewerage maintenance works in Mehdipatnam and Tolichowki as part of the ongoing 90-day special drive to manage sewerage issues.

At Amba Theatre in Mehdipatnam, Ashok Reddy found that hotels, bakeries, food courts and commercial buildings were directly connecting their sewerage lines to the water board’s network which led to frequent blockages and overflowing manholes due to food waste clogging the system. He asked the officials to issue notices to these buildings, instructing them to construct silt chambers. He warned that sewage connections would be cut for those who fail to do it.

At Tolichowki, he directed officials to connect existing sewerage lines to the new Zone-3 Sewerage Network which aims to modernise the system in areas like Goshamahal, Nampally and Jubilee Hills. The Rs 297-crore Zone-3 project will improve sewerage systems across 33.5 sq. km, covering over 129 km of pipeline.
