How can I fight for people when they gave the sword to someone else: KCR

BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday said the Congress government must take responsibility for the irrigation and drinking water crises.

Hyderabad:BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday said the Congress government must take responsibility for the irrigation and drinking water crises. He said that the people were only now seeing the result of their voting decision.

“People are now asking for KCR to come back. But they are the ones who defeated me and made me sit at home. Where should I go? How can I fight for them when they handed the sword to someone else,” he said.

Rao was addressing party leaders and workers at his Erravalli farmhouse in Siddipet district. The BRS workers, led by former Ramagundam MLA Korukanti Chandar Patel, went in a padayatra from Kaleshwaram to Erravalli.

“People now believe they were happier during the BRS rule that is now in the grip of padayatras, dharnas and people fighting for their needs. Does Telangana deserve this? At least now, society should think of its options carefully. The BRS will return to power and will do so its own as Congress continues to remain the primary enemy of the people of Telangana,” Rao said.

“Why is there a water crisis in the state today? This problem did not exist when BRS was in power. It is because of the neglect of the Congress government which sees water supply as a financial issue and not as a people issue. Any government must spend whatever is needed to ensure people get water for irrigation and drinking,” he said.

Rao said the absence of BRS members in the Lok Sabha was being felt now with both the Congress and the BJP, having eight MPs each, completely failing to fight for the state in Parliament.
