Hyd City Infra Projects To Have Flood Mitigation Measures

Steps under H-CITI to include waterlogging during monsoons

Hyderabad: The government will incorporate flood mitigation measures while developing 50 infrastructure projects as part of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Initiative (H-CITI) project.

As part of a public-centric approach to infrastructure upgrades, engineers, in addition to resolving traffic bottlenecks, will simultaneously implement measures to prevent waterlogging during monsoons.

This approach will be incorporated into the execution of flyovers, underpasses, road underbridges (RuBs), and road overbridges (RoBs), with an estimated cost of Rs 7,300 crore.

As part of adaptive modifications, officials will submit written suggestions for improvements, modifications, or additions to existing projects. Holistic urban planning will include quality control checks and improved interdepartmental coordination.

On Sunday, MA&UD principal secretary M. Dana Kishore held a teleconference with GHMC officials to review the progress of H-CITI. The meeting emphasised accelerating infrastructure projects to alleviate traffic congestion in the Greater Hyderabad region.

These measures include mandatory onsite inspections at regular intervals, immediate action in case of lapses, a public-centric approach, adaptive modifications, and holistic urban planning.

The focus is on implementing innovative solutions to eliminate traffic disruptions and ensure minimal public inconvenience, in line with the instructions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, according to an MA&UD press release.

Dana Kishore and GHMC commissioner K. Ilambarithi also inspected sites near the Indian School of Business intersection, where several H-CITI projects are underway.

Additionally, Ilambarithi conducted another inspection and instructed town planning officials to complete land acquisition before finalising the tender process for road widening projects in the central and western parts of the city.
