Hyd gears up for big Ram Navami
Cops ask organisers to respect ban on DJs

Hyderabad:The twin cities are preparing to celebrate Sri Rama Navami on Sunday in a big way, with mandapams and brightly lit stages set up across neighbourhoods for the celestial wedding of Lord Rama and Sita, as well as a massive shobha yatra.
Temples and community groups have finalised plans for Kalyanam ceremonies, annaprasadam and evening processions.
At LB Colony in Trimulgherry, the Sri Mukha Pranaanjaya Swami Temple has become a symbol of inter-faith harmony.
Organiser Bushampally Madhu said residents from Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities jointly plan and fund the annual Kalyanam, followed by a communal feast that draws large crowds.
Another popular venue is KVR Bhagawathi Pride in Himayatnagar, where residents have hosted the celebration since 2017. Organiser Madhira Sriram Divya reported a growing turnout from surrounding areas each year.
Devotees from Begum Bazaar, led by Vinod Kumar, will once travel in a convoy of decorated vehicles to join the shobha yatra from Sitarambagh temple, continuing a tradition that has become an annual highlight. Nizam College Grounds is also gearing up for one of the city’s largest gatherings.
On Saturday, municipal and police authorities inspected main procession routes to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety.
City police have asked organisers of Rama Navami Shobha Yatra to respect the ban on DJ systems and other high-decibel equipment during religious processions. The reminder follows a September notification that prohibits DJ sound systems, mixers, amplifiers and similar devices capable of generating excessive noise. Officials said sound systems will be permitted only if they remain within prescribed decibel limits. “All steps will be taken to enforce the ban; any violation will invite strict legal action,” a senior officer said, noting that local police and special-branch teams will monitor processions with video cameras and submit footage as evidence in court if required. The restrictions were first issued by police commissioner C.V. Anand last year after residents complained about noise pollution from mobile DJ speakers and firecrackers during festivals.
Police have approved BJP MLA T. Raja Singh’s Sri Rama Navami Shobha Yatra on April 6, running from Aakashpuri Hanuman temple, Dhoolpet, to Hanuman Vyayamshala, Ramkoti. Additional commissioner Vikram Singh Mann stipulated certain conditions that it must not disrupt traffic,, there would be no provocative banners, speeches, or slogans.
