Hyderabad, Bangalore must be declared as Defence Industrial Corridor: Revanth Reddy

Participating in the Vigyan Vaibhav - 2025 programme along with the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at Gachibowli here on Friday, he said noted defence establishments like BDL, DRDO, Midani and HAL were located in Hyderabad manufacturing rockets and missiles for the country.

“Defence manufacturing units have been established in and around Hyderabad, which has been playing an important active role in the defence sector in the country,” he said. Revanth Reddy said a special exhibition was organized to inspire and educate lakhs of students on patriotism and the responsibility of protecting the country.

He said every year, more than one lakh engineering graduates from Telangana, especially those studying computer science, were going to the US. “We are organizing this science exhibition to explain the importance of the national defence system and instill patriotism among them.

“We are trying to provide efficient engineers required for t country's defence sector apart from sending IT professionals from Telangana to US. Generating more engineers for the defence sector is more important,” he said.

Many organizations like BDL, HHL, Midani, DRDO in Hyderabad have been working exceptionally in the field of production for the country's defence sector before and after India attained independence.

“As Hyderabad and Bangalore are important centers for the country's defence sector, the two cities should be declared as a Defence Industrial Corridor. The corridor will bring in huge investments,” he said. Startups like Sky Route, including rocket manufacturing will also develop.

“Your cooperation and support are required. We will make efforts to promote India as number one country in the defence sector,” he added.
