Hyderabad: Chain-snatcher nabbed

HYDERABAD: The Rajendranagar and Narsingi police on Wednesday arrested a habitual chain-snatcher in Alkapur colony and recovered a gold chain and a two-wheeler from his possession. The accused has been identified as Uppugunta Sagar, 24, a resident of Lingampally.

On September 11, while the police were conducting vehicle checks in Alkapur colony, they noticed that the accused was moving suspiciously on a two-wheeler. On continuous grilling, he confessed to the crime. A case was registered against him under Section 309(4) of the BNS.

On August 17, a complaint was received from Ganga Bhavani, 26, a resident of Puppalguda, stating that on the same day at around 4.15 pm, she picked her two children up from school and was walking to her home. A man on a two-wheeler approached her from behind and snatched her gold chain of three tolas. On investigation, police found that it was the accused, Sagar, who snatched her chain.

Sagar works as a van driver in a private school and is a habitual offender. Prior to that he had worked as a food delivery executive. He was involved in similar cases in the KPHB police station limits. Though he was arrested, he was granted bail within 25 days of his arrest.
