Hyderabad: Constable Remanded for Alleged Rape of Minor
Hyderabad: Police have remanded G. Pradeep, a 2020 batch RGIA police constable on charges of raping a minor girl in Rajendranagar limits.
The victim was assaulted by Pradeep for over four years under the pretext of marrying her. The victim’s family was willing to accept him as their son-in-law. However, he told them that he had married a year ago.
When the victim tried to confront him, he reportedly threatened to post their intimate videos on social media apps, said Rajendranagar ACP Srinivas. Out of fear, the girl allegedly did not reveal the threats to her family.
Sources said that Pradeep allegedly had a gallery full of their intimate videos and photos.
The victim's family is seeking justice and wants the accused to be punished severely. The police registered a case under the Pocso Act. An internal enquiry will be conducted against him, said police officials.
When he was posted at Pet Basheerabad police station earlier, Pradeep had allegedly cheated some women and threatened them into silence by using his influence.
Woman lodges harassment complaint against ex-husband
A woman from Jawaharnagar police station limits lodged a complaint against her ex-husband for verbally harassing her over the phone. A case was registered under IPC Sections 504 and 506.
According to investigation officer Nagaraj, Harichandana Goli, the victim, married Arun Kumar, in 2011. In 2012, she gave birth to a son. She divorced Arun two years later as she was unable to bear the alleged harassment of her husband and sister-in-law.
Ten years after the divorce, Arun desired to meet their son, which Harichandana, who had remarried by this time, did not agree with, Nagaraj said and added “Whenever Arun got drunk, he would want to meet his child. When Harichandana asked him to take the child's legal custody, he started harassing her on WhatsApp.” Further investigation is underway, he said.
