Hyderabad: A 59-year-old head constable from the Telangana Special Police’s First Battalion fell from the third floor of a building in Devinagar Colony, KPHB, during a birthday party on Sunday night. The officer was identified as David.
According to Kukatpally ACP K. Srinivas Rao, David was attending a birthday celebration hosted by a fellow police personnel who works in the Rachakonda police control room. After participating in prayers, David was descending the stairs to join the dinner when the incident occurred.
The ACP reported that the building’s safety wall was inadequately high, contributing to the accident. David lost his footing and fell from the stairs, initially hitting a large tree before reaching the ground. The tree’s branches caused severe injuries, further complicating the situation.
Shekar, whose birthday party was being organised, quickly transported David to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, David succumbed to his injuries.
The body has been sent to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
