Hyderabad: Smarter customs, safer trade, and a stronger economy — this was the vision that was set to commemorate the International Customs Day 2025. Hyderabad Customs reaffirmed its commitment to efficiency, security, and prosperity in global trade.
Officials, industry leaders, and policymakers gathered at Dr MCR HRD Institute to discuss how digitalisation, automation, and enhanced enforcement can streamline cross-border trade while tackling illicit activities.
Delivering the keynote address, Sandeep Prakash, principal chief commissioner (Hyderabad zone), highlighted the role and impact of technology in customs operations.
“Efficiency in customs is not just about speed; it’s about precision, security, and transparency in global trade,” he said.
Justice P. Sam Koshy from the Telangana High Court spoke about the critical role customs’ officials play in curbing smuggling, counterfeit trade and money laundering, thereby ensuring economic stability.
G.V. Prasad, co-chairman & MD, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and C. Prasanna, executive director, GMR Group, commended Hyderabad Customs for its proactive approach in trade facilitation and enforcement.
With modernisation as the priority, the customs wing is now focusing on expediting trade through automation, strengthening enforcement against financial crimes, and ensuring fair revenue collection while supporting domestic industries.
The event recognised top-performing customs officers and leading exporters and importers from the state.
Justice Koshy presented merit certificates on the occasion.
