Hyderabad Cybercrime Police Recover Rs 1.09 Crore for Fraud Victims
Hyderabad: The city cybercrime police returned to victims, about Rs.1.09 crore that they had lost to cyberfraud. Upon receiving the complaints, the police had sent notices to the bank concerned and asked them to freeze the amounts, said cybercrime DCP Dara Kavitha.
The complainants were guided to petitions in the court to secure the return of the money. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Eswaraiah passed orders reverting the sum of about Rs.1.09 crore to the victims.
In one case, a victim had lost Rs.80 lakh, and another was cheated of Rs.29.1 lakh. They had been cheated in the name of high profits for their investment. In another case, a 52-year-old private company employee from Begumpet was induced to transfer Rs.1.22 crore.
In yet another case, a 62-year-old from the city was cheated on the pretext of investment in a global investment firm; he paid up Rs.32,10,000 to the bank accounts provided by the accused.
