Hyderabad: Driver Gets 3-Year RI Under Pocso
Hyderabad: The fast-track special judge for expeditious trial and disposal of rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act Cases, LB Nagar court on Wednesday sentenced three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a 21-year-old driver after he was found guilty.
The accused, Shanimalla Akhil, 21, a driver in 2022 was arrested by Chaitanyapuri police after the minor’s parents complained against him about the sexual assault.
Apart from three years, the court also imposed Rs 11,000 fine and awarded the victim a compensation of Rs 1, 00,000, the police said.
Speeding car rams into Metro median
A speeding car went out of control and slammed into the Metro Rail median causing severe damage to the structure and the vehicle itself. The incident occurred under the Madhapur police station limits at 5.30 am on Wednesday, according to the police. The driver of the car abandoned the car and fled the scene.
“At around 5.45 am, the locals informed the police through Dial 100 that the incident had occurred between Metro Rail pillars 1719 and 1720 in Madhapur. Our patrolling team immediately reached there and cleared the spot. We are currently looking for the driver, who is at large,” Madhapur inspector Krishna Mohan said.
A case was registered and further investigation is under way.
