Hyderabad Lakes To Get Major Revamp
Hyderabad: For beautification and development of lakes in Hyderabad, M. Dana Kishore, principal secretary of municipal administration and urban development (MAUD), instructed GHMC commissioner Amrapali Kata, the special commissioner for lakes, and the corporation’s zonal commissioners to identify at least five lakes in each zone.
They were instructed to prepare and submit a comprehensive action plan for the beautification and development of these lakes within three days.
He instructed that in zones of Charminar, LB Nagar, Serilingampally, Kukatpally, Secunderabad, and Khairatabad, a minimum of 50 lakes should be identified, with five lakes per zone, and that beautification and development work should be carried out using corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds.
Kishore also emphasised the need to engage with the builders and prominent corporate companies in the city to secure CSR funds for lake development and to encourage them to adopt these lakes.
As part of the beautification process, he directed that the embankments of the lakes should be strengthened and the inlet and outlet canals should be cleaned. Additionally, walking tracks, flowering plants, ornamental plants, surrounding gardens, and bund parks should be developed around the lakes. He stressed that all efforts should be made to develop the lakes in a way that provides a pleasant environment for the public.
