Hyderabad Leads in Cybercrime Case Disposal at Lok Adalat
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police commissionerate topped the disposal cybercrime cases, numbering 24,546, before the National Lok Adalat which was held between November 28 and December 14, followed by Cyberabad with 12,797 and Rachakonda 11,083 cases.
Return of amounts to cybercrime victims was undertaken by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) which facilitated the payment of Rs 33.2 crore to 4,893 victims. This was way above the Rs 25.2 crores refunded to 5,063 victims in the last National Lok Adalat held in September, indicating the huge increase in the number of cybercrimes.
TGCSB director Shikha Goel on Sunday said that a total of 1,57,088 cases were liquidated during National Lok Adalat. Of these, 74,767 were e-petty cases and 59,438 filed under the motor vehicle Act. Total FIRs compounded in 20,752, and disaster management cases, 2,131.
The initiative to return money to victims through the Lok Adalat mechanism began on February 20. Goel said This achievement underscored TGCSB’s commitment to delivering timely financial relief to cyberfraud victims.
“The Lok Adalat provided a valuable platform for the public to resolve compoundable cases amicably, significantly reducing the burden of court appearances, saving time and money, and offering peace of mind to both parties,” the TGCSB director said.
