Hyderabad: Man Dies after Choking on Chicken Bone

Hyderabad: A 37-year-old businessman from Shadnagar died due to asphyxiation when a piece of chicken bone got stuck in his throat.

The victim, identified as Sonugomula Srikanth, a resident of Annaram village of Shadnagar, had come to meet his sister at her house at Laxminagar Colony in Saidabad when his incident happened.

According to police, Srikanth consumed liquor at a bar in Koti and returned back to meet his friends and relatives in an autorickshaw and fell unconscious on the roadside at Laxminagar Colony in Saidabad.

The autorickshaw driver got panicked and fled the scene leaving him unconscious. Locals alerted the police who rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

“While eating biryani, a piece of chicken boned lodged in his throat due to which he complained of suffocation and struggled to breathe and developed hiccup,” police said

Following the incident, Srikanth was rushed to a private hospital where the doctors after examination declared him dead on arrival. An autopsy later confirmed that the cause of his death was asphyxiation, resulting from a chicken bone stuck in his throat.

A case of suspicious death has been registered and the body has been sent to OGH for a post-mortem examination.
