Hyderabad: All slaughterhouses for cattle, sheep, and goats, along with retail meat and beef shops, will remain closed on January 30, Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has issued this directive under Section 533 (b) of the GHMC Act, 1955.
The GHMC Commissioner has sent a circular to the Police Commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda, urging them to ensure the order is followed.
Officials from various departments, including veterinary officers, zonal commissioners, and the Telangana State Sheep and Goat Development Cooperative Federation, have been instructed to monitor and ensure the enforcement of the closure.
14 students fall ill after mid-day meal
Fourteen students of Government Boys High School in Yellareddy town fell ill on Wednesday after eating food under the mid-day meal scheme.
Shortly after lunch, students experienced severe stomach pain and vomiting. School authorities rushed them to the government hospital, where 10 students were treated and discharged, while four remain admitted for further observation.
Concerned parents rushed to the hospital, seeking details about the incident. Hospital sources confirmed that the condition of all affected students is stable.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the food contamination.
