Hyderabad: Mobile units to fight cervical cancer launched
Hyderabad: Wide coverage of human pappilomavirus (HPV) vaccination, improved screening and rising awareness levels were important to combat cervical cancer, said the experts speaking at an inaugural event here on Thursday.
The experts highlighted the importance of collaboration in cervical cancer prevention, discussed India's broader initiatives to eliminate cervical cancer and contributed to the action plans.
They were speaking at the initiative, Telangana Cervical Cancer Crusade: Early Detection and Vaccination Advocacy (TEC-EDVA), held at the Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) in Medchal. The initiative is a joint project of the MIMS and the Indian Institute of Public Health-Hyderabad (IIPH-H).
The experts launched the Swasthya Rath mobile cancer hospital units, which are expected to play a critical role in expanding the reach of TEC-EDVA’s screening and vaccination efforts.
MMIS Principal Dr M.V. Subba Rao, director of IIPH-H Prof. Anil Kaul and director of the Center for Digital Public Health Prof. Rentala Madhubala spoke at the event.
