Hyderabad police arrest Allu Arjun on deceased's husband complaint
Hyderabad: The Chikkadpally police arrested Allu Arjun on Friday under provisions of 105 (culpable homicide that doesn't amount to murder) and 118(1) (causing hurt or grievous hurt to someone using dangerous weapons or harmful means) read with 3(5) of BNS.
The case was booked based on a complaint lodged by Magudampalli Bhaskar after the death of wife M Revathi, 39, in a stampede at Sandhya theatre in Chikkadapally on December 4, 2024.
In the police complaint, Bhaskar, a resident of Dilsukhnagar, said he along with his wife, son Sri Tej, (9) and daughter Sanvika (8) went to Sandhya 70 MM theatre to watch Pushpa-2 premiere show by getting tickets at around 9.10 pm.
He said by that time the theatre was crowded and actor Allu Arjun’s personal security personnel clearing the crowd from the theatre when he came there. “My wife Revathi and son Sai Tej, who were in the lower balcony hall, were unable to breathe and due to suffocation had fallen down. The police, who were doing their duty, had rescued them and shifted them to Durga Bai Deshmukh hospital for the treatment. By that time, Revathi expired. My son after the first-Aid was shifted to KIMS hospital in Begumpet for better treatment,” he said.
“Without any prior arrangements and facilities and by allowing huge public into the theatre, forced us to vacant seats and pushed us down. As a result, my wife died and son suffered injuries,” Bhaskar said.
He said the reason for the incident was because of Sandhya 70 MM theatre management and the staff and the reason for the surging crowd who pushed the audience was because of the actor Allu Arjun and his personal security staff,” he said, seeking to take action against them.
